Ryan Reynolds addresses rumours he's bought a £1.5 million house in village near Wrexham

Ryan Reynolds addresses rumours he's bought a £1.5 million house in village near Wrexham

Reynolds set the record straight.

Ryan Reynolds is Wrexham's golden boy at the moment, alongside his co-owner Rob McElhenney.

After taking over the club and getting them promoted to the football league for the first time in 15 years, the two Hollywood stars are in the good books with locals.

And, after taking the men's team on a luxurious Las Vegas trip to celebrate, rumours started to spread that Reynolds might have purchased a flashy pad in North Wales to stay closer to the team.

There were whisperings that the Deadpool star had splashed out a whopping £1.5 million on a property in Marford, a village just 15 minutes away from the Racecourse Ground.

The picturesque village has only two pubs - the Red Lion and the Trevor Arms - where the 46-year-old actor could have rubbed shoulders with local fans.

There's also only one Co-op in the tiny village, which has a population of 2,500.

Marford may not be a big name hot spot for Hollywood stars, but locals were thrilled about the reported move of Reynolds.

Speaking to the Fearless in Devotion podcast, Ryan cleared up rumours once and for all.

Ryan insisted he has no plans to make a permanent move.

"I mean I've got four kids here in New York. There was an article that said I'd bought a home over there, but that was not accurate at all.

"Look, we love it, but to move our entire families over there, that would be a real act of superior black belt manipulation on my part. I can pull off a few things, but I don't think I could pull that off."

He continued: "But both my wife and I love coming over. But we both love going to California - and we don't live there! Maybe one day, who knows."

Meanwhile, Rob McElhenney hinted that he might me a little more easily convinced to pack up and move his family across the pond.

"I looked at my calendar and since December I've taken nine trips to the UK with 8 trips to Wales. At a certain point that's not economically viable to keep that up," the It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia star mused.

"My kids are a little older, so maybe I can force their hands there a little."

And it would appear that neither Ryan nor Rob will be strapped for cash if they did decide to make the big move, since Wrexham AFC are set to receive a tasty £17 million windfall payment from the government ahead of their return to the football league.

That payout, all from public funding, is a staggering four times the total that Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney initially forked out to purchase both the football club and stadium.

How sweet is that?

Surely that's enough to consider investing in a holiday home, at least?
