Richard Hammond brutally trolled by daughter after leaving Top Gear on day out with James May

Richard Hammond brutally trolled by daughter after leaving Top Gear on day out with James May

Richard's daughter Izzy did not hold back.

It's good to know that, after Richard Hammond left Top Gear, he still gets a healthy dose of slagging.

The presenter left Top Gear alongside James May in 2015, after their co-star Jeremy Clarkson's dismissal.

At the time, a BBC report had found that Clarkson was responsible for an 'unprovoked physical and verbal attack' on a member of the Top Gear crew, Oisin Tymon, that landed him in A&E.

Insisting that the trio were a package deal, James and Richard stood by Jeremy and decided to ditch the hit motor show.

Now, the former Top Gear stars appear in The Grand Tour on Amazon Prime Video.

But, before they landed their new show, Richard's daughter Izzy, 22, couldn't help herself and regularly poked fun at both Richard and James for being out of a job.

Speaking about Izzy's hilarious jibes on the Fuelling About podcast, Richard recalled: "After we finished the show James had come over to stay with me for a few days. We’d gone to Kentucky Fried Chicken to get lunch for everyone with Izzy.

"We got to the front of the queue, put our order in, and James said, 'Oh, oh, I’ll pay,' and I said, 'No, no mate, I’ll pay' and he said, 'No, no, no I’ll pay'.

"And there was a pause, just when the whole restaurant had gone quiet, and Izzy said, 'Well technically lads, I should pay as you haven’t got a job between you'. And the place detonated with laughter."

To be fair, when else would you get the opportunity to wind-up your world famous dad? You have to seize these opportunities when they're presented to you.

And the taunting didn't stop there.

Richard continued: "She obviously then thought, 'This is the best game.'

"So subsequently, at the end of the queue in Morrisons, I’m home so I was doing the shopping, as I was waiting to pay she would say very loudly, 'Daddy, daddy, so when does your credit card stop working?' and I’d go, 'Oh, for God’s sake,' and again a whole store of people were in hysterics."

Jeremy Clarkson was back in the news this week when he unexpectedly issued a public apology to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry for his 'disgusting' column in The Sun.

Not long after claiming he hated Meghan Markle on a 'cellular level', and dreamt of a day when she would be 'made to parade naked through the streets of every town in Britain while the crowds chant, 'Shame!' and throw lumps of excrement at her,' Jeremy ate his words with a grovelling apology.

"I really am sorry," he wrote in a statement posted to Instagram.

"All the way from the balls of my feet to the follicles on my head. This is me putting my hands up. It's a mea culpa with bells on."

He continued: "I'm just not sexist and I abhor violence against women. And yet I seemed to be advocating just that.

"I was mortified and so was everyone else. My phone went mad. Very close friends were furious.

"I said I was baffled by what they had been saying on TV, but that the language I’d used in my column was disgraceful and that I was profoundly sorry."
