People Are Already Questioning Jurassic World’s Rotten Tomatoes Rating

The latest instalment of the Jurassic World franchise is set to be released on 10 June

Jurassic World: Dominion hasn't yet been released to the masses, but already its Rotten Tomatoes rating has prompted controversy among film fans.

Take a look at the trailer below:

The latest instalment of the epic adventure franchise is set to be released in theatres in both the US and the UK tomorrow (10 June), but critics have had early access to viewings to allow them to give fans an idea of what to expect.

I haven't yet seen the film, but thanks to my knowledge of the Jurassic Park franchise and the trailer for Dominion, I can assure it will feature dinosaurs, running, screaming and Jeff Goldblum.

I've no doubt the film will deliver on its mission of taking the audience on an adventure, but it's the quality of that adventure that's up for debate after critics rated the film just 37 percent on Rotten Tomatoes' Tomatometer.

The rating is currently the lowest for any Jurassic Park or Jurassic World film, falling an entire 10 percent behind the next-lowest, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

Mark Feeney, a critic for the Boston Globe, gave the film a rating of 2.5 out of four, saying that while it 'has its moments', it feels 'fairly tired'.

Johnny Oleksinski, of the New York Post, was even less generous as he noted that despite the film being the longest Jurassic Park movie, 'size doesn’t matter — “Dominion” is also the worst'.

It goes without saying that it's probably not the kind of reviews the creators were hoping for, but some fans are questioning the Tomatometer rating and arguing that it's not necessarily accurate.

One TikToker named Joe, who appears to have seen the film, argued: "It's got a few flaws but the nostalgia and pure fun make up for it."

Joe ranked Dominion as the third or fourth best in the franchise, which altogether features six films.

Another fan expressed belief the story could have been 'way waayyy better', but argued the 'nostalgic feeling the characters from Jurassic Park give us keep it afloat' and assured film fans they 'won't get bored'.

Not everyone agrees that improvements could be made, though, with one fan describing the film as 'EPIC'.

"! I loved every second of it," the Twitter user added, "Don't let all the very negative reviews dissuade you from watching the movie. It's definitely worth it."

The mixed responses for the film indicate it won't be up everyone's street, but since everyone has different opinions you'll have to watch the film to find out which side you're on.
