Ozzy Osbourne says 'I refuse to f***ing die' as he recalls ‘nightmare’ surgery

Ozzy Osbourne says 'I refuse to f***ing die' as he recalls ‘nightmare’ surgery

The former Black Sabbath frontman most recently performed at the Closing Ceremony of the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Despite suffering from a string of health problems over the past two decades, Ozzy Osbourne now vows that he refuses to die following his triumphant return to music. Check it out:

In a revealing interview with Zane Lowe of Apple Music, the 73-year-old detailed his struggles with Parkinson's disease, which he's lived with since 2003.

However, alongside the ailments that were already in the public domain, Osbourne also revealed the 'nightmare' surgery he received following a 2019 fall.

The former Black Sabbath frontman says he underwent several spinal operations after the incident, one of which temporarily left him unable to raise his head.

Osbourne has come a long way since then, as he was performing back in his home city of Birmingham last month to bring the curtain down on the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Nevertheless, as he disclosed to radio DJ Lowe, the road to recovery was long and at times agonising.

In a clip shared by Lowe on TikTok, he starts off by asking Osbourne: "If you don’t mind me asking, how was surgery? You look fantastic and you sound fantastic."

To which his guest of honour replied: "Well, I’m somewhat better but it’s gonna take a while for me to get my balance back, I can only just do the best I can."

Former X Factor judge Sharon Osbourne, who was also present for the interview, expanded on some of her husband's recent health issues.

She stated that he was in a really ‘bad’ way just before the pandemic hit in 2020, adding that a surgeon performed 'a really excessive operation that he didn’t need'.

According to Sharon, who has been married to the rocker for more than 40 years, the procedure meant he couldn't lift his head up properly afterwards.

She told Lowe: "He [the surgeon] went in and took things out and put two big metal plates with screws and the body rejected them. And he [Ozzy] couldn’t lift his head up.

"The screws in the plates were coming loose and as they were working loose there was debris from bones and muscle and it was caught under his spinal cord."

Even with such crippling health issues holding him back, Ozzy has returned to doing what he does best this year – making music.

His latest album, Patient Number Nine, was released earlier this month, while numerous live performances are also in the pipeline for the 'Iron Man' singer.

As the man himself declared: "‘I refuse to f*****g die, when the grim-reaper comes I'll say 'f**k off'.

"I'll get back on that stage if it kills me," Osbourne defiantly said in the interview.

His performance at the 2022 Commonwealth Games Closing Ceremony, where he returned to the city of his birth for the first time in years, was a brief yet brilliant reminder of what the legendary frontman gave the world of music.

Fans the world over will be hoping to see a lot more of Osbourne on stage in the coming years.
