New Mind-Bending Crime Drama Starring Stephen Graham Is Coming To Netflix

Netflix has unveiled a new 'police procedural with a twist' starring Stephen Graham.

Graham is best known for his gritty acting style in television series such as Channel 4's Help, BBC's Line of Duty and his highly-rated performance in thriller Boiling Point.

Fear not if you've already binge-watched your way through all of the series and films featuring the BAFTA nominee, because a new drama programme is coming to Netflix soon.

Bodies is set to be similar in style to Graham's most notable shows: tense, gripping and teeth-gritting to watch.

The official synopsis for the upcoming release reads: "A murder in Whitechapel. Four different detectives are trying to solve the murder in different time periods: 1890s overachiever Edmond Hillinghead, dashing 1940s adventurer Karl Whiteman, kickass female 2010s Detective Sergeant Shahara Hasan, and Maplewood, an amnesiac from post-apocalyptic 2050, who brings a haunting perspective.

"Together, the four set out to uncover a conspiracy spanning 150 years."

If that wasn't enough to entice you, the rest of the stellar cast should be plenty to get the series added to your 'To Watch' list.

Starring alongside Graham is Shira Haas, best known for her role as Esther Shapiro in 2020 drama Unorthodox.

The Queen's Gambit's Jacob Fortune-Lloyd is also part of the 'brilliant cast' which was announced by Netflix earlier today, 8 July.

Amaka Okafor from The Responder and The Inheritance's Kyle Soller also feature in the adaptation.

Bodies is based on 'the mind-bending graphic novel' by Si Spencer.

Spencer's novel spans across 160 years and is divided into four different detective stories, each taking place in different eras in London.

The adaptation is expected to follow a similar structure, as per Showbiz Cheat Sheet.

Bodies is being written by Danusia Samal (Gangs of London) and Paul Tomalin (Shameless) and will be produced by the makers of Peaky Blinders - Will Gould and Firth Tiplady from Moonage Pictures. They are joined by Susie Liggat who produced multiple episodes of Doctor Who.

The series' directors are Marco Kruetzpaintner and Haolu Wang.

Kreutzpaitner is best known for his work on 2018 series Beat, with Wang recently directing an episode of Doctor Who titled 'Legend of the Sea Devils'.

According to Stylist, part of the filming – which is still currently in action – took place in the Old Town of Hull, with other filming taking place in London.

A date for the drama's release has not yet been made publicly available.
