Netflix users threaten to cancel subscriptions after price suddenly rises overnight

Apple users have now had the change made to their Netflix subscriptions

It’s never a fun start to the day when you check your bank account in the morning so see all those bills you’ve signed up for going out your account.

And it’s even worse when you see one of them suddenly rise overnight.

That’s what recently happened to many Netflix users as they now threaten to cancel their subscriptions altogether.

Viewers who were subscribing to binge their favourite shows through Apple saw their fee go up earlier this week.

This increase to be able to carry on watching the latest true crime docs or to binge One Day while crying on the sofa actually came into effect earlier this year.

Netflix decided to scrap its Basic ad-free plan, which cost £6.99 per month, and it’s only just came into effect for customers billing it through iTunes.

Apple removed this option to pay through their service a while ago, and the streaming giant told The Verge that members are to now pay Netflix directly.

But users aren’t exactly buzzing with the change as they say it’s a ‘convenient’ way to pay, with one slamming on X: “Guess I’ll be cancelling my Netflix account.”

With the Basic ad-free plan disappearing, customers who aren’t cancelling their subscription will have to decide if they want to pay less and put up with ads, or cash out more each month to stay ad-free.
