Netflix Viewers 'Disturbed' By Recently Added James Nesbitt Series

The Secret tells the horrifying true story of a double murder that took place in Northern Ireland in the early 1990s

Netflix fans are raving about a 'disturbing' series starring James Nesbitt after it was recently added to the streamer. You can watch the trailer below:

The Secret originally dropped on ITV back in 2016, telling the horrifying true story of a double murder that took place in Northern Ireland in the early 1990s.

James portrays Colin Howell, the convicted double murderer who killed his wife Lesley Howell and the husband of his lover, Trevor Buchanan.

Colin conspired with his lover Hazel Buchanan, who had started an affair the year prior, and they made the murders look like a double suicide pact.

At the devastating scene, Lesley was found holding photos of her four children, along with Trevor, in a car filled with exhaust fumes.

Meanwhile, Trevor had been drugged with a spiked sandwich by Hazel, before being killed by Colin.

The deceased spouses were found in a car in 1991, but it wasn't until 2010 that Colin was convicted.

After his eldest son died in an accident and he lost all of his money in a scam, the killer believed god was punishing him and he confessed to his role in the crimes.

Colin and Hazel were sentenced to life in prison, with a minimum term of 21 years and 18 years respectively.

The incident shocked the nation at the time, and the same can be said for the Netflix viewers who are discovering the sickening story through its dramatisation.

One person who went into a little more detail on their viewing habits in a Twitter exchange said: "I've got lots of stuff on my list. Prefer true life stuff...

"Watched a ITV one this week on Netflix called The Secret. True Story, pretty disturbing but very good."

So, what are you waiting for? If you haven't had a chance to watch it yet or you fancy giving it another go, all four episodes of The Secret are available to watch on Netflix now.
