Netflix release trailer for chilling killer nurse film based on ‘unthinkable true story’

The Good Nurse follows the story of a killer nurse in an ‘unthinkable true story’.

Netflix have released a trailer for the upcoming film The Good Nurse, which is based on a ‘unthinkable true story’. Watch the trailer here:

The Good Nurse is actually based on the book, The Good Nurse: A True Story of Medicine, Madness, and Murder by Charles Graeber.

Jessica Chastain, fresh from her recent Oscars victory for The Eyes of Tammy Faye, stars in the upcoming Netflix film and is chasing down a serial killer who is murdering patients.

The new thriller tells the story of Charles Cullen, a nurse and serial killer who has confessed to killing up to 40 patients over the course of his career.

The story also follows Amy Loughren (Jessica Chastain), a single mother working night shifts as a nurse while struggling with a life-threatening heart condition.

Already stretched to her limits by her demanding job, Loughren soon becomes suspicious of her friend and co-worker Cullen after a series of mysterious deaths spark an investigation, which leads to a lot of the evidence pointing the finger towards him.

Accompanying this new trailer, Netflix released a sort description on the film's official page on what to expect from The Good Nurse when it releases next month on the streaming service.

It reads: "An overburdened ICU nurse leans on her selfless new colleague at work and at home — until a patient's unexpected death casts him in a suspicious light."

The Good Nurse is not short of well known actors for this thrilling adventure.

Alongside Jessica Chastain is British actor and fellow Oscar winner, Eddie Redmayne.

Redmayne plays the killer nurse who is looking to stop his crimes from being brought to light.

The film also features actors Nnamdi Asomugha, Kim Dickens, Noah Emmerich, Malik Yoba, and Alix West Lefler in supporting roles.

The Good Nurse is also directed by Tobias Lindholm and written by Scottish screenwriter, Krysty Wilson-Cairns and is produced by Michael A. Jackman, Scott Franklin, and Darren Aronofsky.

Executive producers include Josh Stern, Ari Handel, Glen Basner and Jonathan Filley,

The Good Nurse releases on Netflix on 26 October after hitting select theaters on 19 October.

It will also premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival this week for those lucky enough to have tickets.

The new film will release in October as part of Netflix's 'Netflix and Chills' lineup for the upcoming Halloween season.
