Lewis Capaldi says having Tourette's is fine as 'everything works' - while pointing at crotch

Lewis Capaldi has said that having Tourette's Syndrome is fine - because nothing has been affected in the downstairs department. Watch here:

The popular singer was a guest on The Jonathan Ross Show recently and the host asked him about his recent diagnosis.

The 26-year-old said: "I do have Tourette's. I didn't mean for it to be a big thing. I twitch a lot. My left shoulder goes up and I do this with my head.

"Now I am the poster boy for Tourette's. I'll take it, I'll gladly accept that. 

"It was seven or eight months ago [that I was diagnosed]. I thought I had a degenerative disease. So to be told it was in fact that I have Tourette's, as you can imagine, was quite a relief."

"It's fine. Everything works," he added, before pointing to his crotch.

So that's good to know.

Tourette's syndrome is a condition that causes a person to make involuntary sounds and movements, called tics.

Capaldi elaborated on why his diagnosis had come as a relief.

"I thought I was quite alone in being twitchy," he said. "It's been a relief and, if anything, nice to know I have a community.

"I'm quite an anxious person, I really start to overthink things if something's wrong - this was a weight off my mind."

On whether it ever affects him while performing, he said: "It definitely gets worse sometimes on stage. Sometimes it can really affect my performance.

"It ebbs and flows. If I look after myself, exercise, go to the gym - which is the same thing by the way - if I don't drink too much or take a walk in the park and breathe in a nice summer's air... I f***ing hate commitment. I'm a loose guy."

He also opened up about moving out of his parents' house and explained why Ed Sheeran owes him.

He said: "He [Ed] sent me this email - we became quite close over lockdown - and said, 'This place looks brilliant.'

"It looked beautiful, sprawling hills, farmhouse aesthetic… I moved there and I was blinded by the outside of it. The interior wasn't up to scratch… I thought I could change that. 

"I moved in. It was an absolute s*** hole. It smelt of smoke and wet dog… there was a bag of live frogs in the cupboard!"

He continued: "I don't know what they were there for, some weird sex thing… it was a bit f***ing weird. So I've moved out. So Ed Sheeran, wherever you are, you owe me money."
