Keanu Reeves accidentally ‘cut a gentleman’s head open’ while filming John Wick film

John Wick: Chapter 4 is out now, but Keanu Reeves revealed that production wasn't without a few accidents

Keanu Reeves has revealed that there was an on-set accident while filming John Wick: Chapter 4 that left a bloke with his head cut open.

Here’s the trailer for the latest John Wick flick to give you an idea of how that might have happened:

So, anyone who has seen any of the John Wick movies will know that there’s no shortage of action, violence, and violent action throughout the series.

While Reeves might be the nicest man in cinema, his character is known for taking no prisoners over the course of his four-movie rampage.

In this latest one, they’ve ramped up the action even more, with Reeves performing a load of stunts involving high-octane car chases, nunchucks - all of that good stuff.

In the end, that has taken a toll on Reeves himself, but significantly some of the crew of the film as well.

In an interview, he said: “Well I mean everyone is pretty tired - but it’s the best kind of tired.

“It’s like you climbed a mountain now you’re resting; like you finished the game and you won.”

There's plenty of action in John Wick: Chapter 4.

On the accident that left a man injured, he explained: “So in terms of accidents: I made a mistake once - I cut a gentleman’s head open.

“So that really f***ing sucked - excuse my language.

“But other than that… oh, one guy got hit by a car.

“He was in the car, so he had to go to the hospital, but he was okay.

“All of this to say that you do have to take care.

“But it’s great that everyone [on set] is watching out for each other.”

Then, mimicking a public service announcement, Reeves added: “There’s some bruising and aches and pains, but ‘no humans were harmed in the filming of this motion picture!'”

This latest instalment in the John Wick world has been tough on Reeves, who describes it as the hardest action movie he’s had to make.

Big words for a man who has been in three other JW films and a heap of Matrix movies.

John Wick: Chapter 4 has the most action of any of the [John Wick] films, which is saying a lot,” he said.

“And it’s more by a good margin. It’s a big show.

John Wick: Chapter 4 was the hardest physical role I’ve ever had in my career so far.

“They really trained me up to be able to have what we call the toolbox.”

Keanu Reeves had to train seriously hard to be ready for the role.

In that toolbox there’s some pretty out-there stuff.

For one stunt, he had to perform a ridiculously difficult driving move, all while reloading a gun and shooting out of the window of the car.

That meant three months of training to prepare himself for the stunts and the physical ordeal of shooting - the movie, not the gun.

He said: “It’s been about 12 weeks of training. It’s new levels of action.

“You know, nun-chucks, which was challenging.

"John Wick action asks just a little bit more, and you see the effort and the commitment from the team.”
