John Cleese has confirmed the Fawlty Towers reboot will be vastly ‘different’ to the original.
The Monty Python star told GB News that the upcoming reboot of the British sitcom will contain a lot of ‘open air’ scenes, which the original didn’t have.
The 83-year-old, who is working on the series with his daughter Camilla Cleese, said the reboot wouldn’t be set in the UK.

Instead, they might opt for somewhere in the ‘sun’.
“Not in a big city, but somewhere out in the sun with a lot of open-air stuff which we never got in Fawlty Towers,” he added.
Along with the upcoming show, Cleese is currently juggling a few other projects as well.

“But we’ve only just started to think about it because I’m also working on the stage version of Life Of Brian, we’re working on a musical of A Fish Called Wanda.
“My daughter and I have written a very good comedy about Hollywood lookalikes and they’re going to be played by the originals, so Arnold Schwarzenegger will play his own lookalike, so there’s plenty going on.”
It was confirmed earlier this year that the show would be getting a reboot after 40 years.
Cleese wrote and starred in the original BBC Two series and has confirmed he will reprise his beloved role.

But, this time, he will be joined by his real-life daughter Camilla, 39, an actor and comedian who is based out of LA.
Actor Rob Reiner and producer Matthew George, who currently run American production company Castle Rock Entertainment (the team behind Seinfeld and Shawshank Redemption) are backing the project.
And there’s a lot of hype circulating as the comedian has claimed the new script is 'excellent'.
“When we first met, he offered an excellent first idea, and then Matt, my daughter Camilla, and I had one of the best creative sessions I can remember,” Cleese said.

“By dessert we had an overall concept so good that, a few days later, it won the approval of Rob and Michele Reiner.
“Camilla and I look forward enormously to expanding it into a series.”
According to Collider, the series will follow ‘how Cleese’s over-the-top, cynical and misanthropic Basil Fawlty navigates the modern world.’
A release date hasn’t been set for the new reboot so you'll have to wait and see for any update.
