Jamie Oliver slammed for spreading 'fake news' with latest £1 Wonders cooking show

Jamie Oliver slammed for spreading 'fake news' with latest £1 Wonders cooking show

The famous TV chef has caused outrage over his latest cooking show

Jamie Oliver has been accused of spreading 'fake news' with his latest £1 Wonders cooking show.

The first episode of the new programme explained to audiences how to make three different dishes for just a pound a pop.

But viewers have slammed the TV chef over the cost breakdown and have complained that it's definitely not quids in for them.

In the first episode of the cooking show, Jamie explains to audiences how to make three seprate dishes at just £1 per portion - including the likes of 'energy-saving chicken roast', a 'cheesy pancake stack' and a 'no-oven pizza'.

Let's be honest, they all already sound like easy-to-do, typical no-fuss Jamie recipes, and there's already been plenty of fans who've tried them out at home singing their praises.

Jamie Oliver's latest cooking show is £1 Wonders.

However, it's clear that some viewers aren't happy with the pricing and have since taken to Twitter to share their thoughts on the matter.

One person, clearly unhappy with the sizes of the portions for the chicken recipe, wrote: "One thigh per person!!! Most people will be starving after."

It was far from winner-winner, chicken dinner for that person.

"I'm sorry but you can’t get three onions for 19p," wrote another, who couldn't believe the price breakdown of the vegetable.

A third even went as far as to call the new cooking show 'ghastly', writing: "What’s this pealing[sic] of carrots, then baking them in the oven and microwaving spuds to save £ on the oven? I’ll audit this."

Another slammed Jamie for spreading 'fake news' with the recipe, tweeting: "B****cks £1 a portion..." before offering up their own price breakdown of the meal.

"A packet of chicken thighs is £3. Bacon £1.89...there is only 2 of us...other ingredients," they added, before hashtagging 'fakenews'.

According to Jamie's official website, the £1 Wonders features 'delicious recipes that won’t blow the budget – all costing less than £1 a portion'.

It reads: "The aim of Jamie’s £1 Wonders is to be as useful to people as possible, with all prices correct at the time of filming (September 2022 and January 2023)."

The cooking show has sent the internet into a spiral.

The cooking show states that it calculates the portion price 'based on an average of four UK supermarkets' and works out the average on the 'cost per portion by the amount used, rather than the whole ingredient cost'.

Such retailers include Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury’s and Morrisons.

The website added: "We believe you’ll already have many of the ingredients in your store cupboard/fridge/freezer.

"We don’t include olive oil, salt or pepper in the final costings, as we think you’ll definitely have these."

Jamie's £1 Wonders can be watched on Mondays from 8 pm on Channel 4.
