Inbetweeners fans glad scene was deleted because it's making them feel awkward

The scene left viewers cringing

The Inbetweeners did a lot of things right, but one of the most impressive was its ability to make viewers want to tear their eyeballs out in order to escape the cringey scenes unfolding before them.

From Simon's rogue ball to Will's makeshift pube wig, the show was absolutely packed to the brim with toe-curling moments - but there were even more that didn't make the final cut.

Prepare to cringe:

Though it didn't make it into the final version of the show, the clip has still managed to find the light of day and induce some serious cringing after it was shared online.

As is common for the show, the scene finds itself on the topic of sex as Jay and his girlfriend Chloe emerge from his bedroom and run into his dad.

Such a scenario could be awkward at the best of times, but throw in Jay, his dad and the fact that it's The Inbetweeners and you just know it's going to be bad.

The clip starts off fairly innocently, with Jay introducing Chloe to his dad. After all of his elaborate and definitely made up stories about girls in the past, it's clear Jay is over the moon to have a physical human with him, and he grins as Chloe and his dad shake hands.

Viewers have been left cringing over the uncomfortable scene.

Being the show that it is, though, obviously things quickly went downhill as his dad jokingly looks for the 'white stick and the guide dog' that would help explain Chloe's decision to be with Jay, asks Jay to open the window in his bedroom to prevent it from smelling like sex, and begins talking about his son's porn habits.

The scene left viewers well and truly uncomfortable, with one fan writing: "Whole scene felt awkward. Glad it got deleted."

Another commented: "That scene just made me cringe."

The scene was ultimately deleted from the show.

After portraying Jay in three seasons of The Inbetweeners and the two resulting movies, actor James Buckley revealed there was 'not enough money in the world' for him to return to the role.

Speaking to Radio X's Chris Moyles, he explained: "No, I don't wanna go near it anymore. Not because I don't think I would have an amazing time doing it, because I know I would... I love the boys, I love the writers. Doing The Inbetweeners was the best job in the world..

"But it might - you know, as I'm getting older - it's looking like it might be the only thing that I do professionally that is universally loved. There's not enough money in the world for me to spoil that."
