I'm a Celebrity camp exposed as having fake jungle and roof

The Australian camp on I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here might not even be in a real jungle - whatever next?

Fans of ITV’s I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here have been shocked to learn that the ‘jungle’ camp the aforementioned celebrities are set up in has a roof to protect them from bad rain, as well as a number of other secrets.

What did you expect?

It’s not exactly a Bear Grylls show is it? They’re not just going to chuck a load of highly-paid and highly-strung celebrities – and Matt Hancock – into the actual jungle and leave them to fend for themselves, are they?

As much as that might actually make for better and more compelling television.

Well, it turns out that the campsite in Australia actually has a secret roof that not only allows somewhere for the campmates to shelter during torrential rain, but also protects the recording equipment used on the show.

Oh, and they use it to lower down whatever the celebs have won after their various Bushtucker trials as well.

Here's where it is actually filmed.

An insider told MailOnline that whilst the cover doesn’t actually cover the beds that the celebrities sleep in, it does offer one area where they can run for cover if the rain does get really awful, which it can at this time of the year in Australia.

What’s more, the ‘jungle’ they are staying in might not actually be a real jungle!

What else don’t we know?

The Springbrook National Park, where the series has traditionally been held – apart from those two years in Wales – is actually described as a ‘lowland subtropical rainforest’.

To be quite honest, it feels like we’re splitting hairs on that front.

The insider is quoted as having said: "A lot of the camp is not under shelter - it’s not like the roof at Wimbledon.”

However, one eagle-eyed fan tweeted: "The fact all the celebrities are completely dry when it's supposedly 'torrential rain' just shows how much of a set up it all is."

Nothing gets by these people.

Despite that, it still looks a good bit like the real jungle.

Former star Alison Hammond has also confirmed there is some shelter at the camp, meaning that stars can’t just catch a tan whilst they’re lying around counting the zeros on their payslips.

The This Morning presenter, who starred on the show in 2010, spoke on the Saving Grace podcast, telling the host: "No, you can't [sunbathe].

“There's trees everywhere and also they've got this canopy for lighting.

“You feel like you're on a camping film set but you can't see the cameras."

I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here airs every night on ITV and ITV Hub.
