Fourth Spider-Man movie with Tom Holland and Zendaya confirmed to be in the works

Fourth Spider-Man movie with Tom Holland and Zendaya confirmed to be in the works

Looks like your friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man will be swinging into cinemas again.

Listen up Spider-Man fans, there is some juicy news you need to feast your eyes on.

You know the end of No Way Home where Tom Holland's Peter Parker realises he's in a world where no one knows him?

It was heartbreaking thinking the trilogy had effectively been erased and that was the end of Holland's tenure as the iconic webslinger.

However, it looks like the show must go on.

A fourth Spider-Man film is in the works and Variety says Holland and his on-screen and off-screen girlfriend Zendaya will be returning.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse producer Amy Pascal told the outlet during the film's premiere that the sequel is in development.

Marvel

“Are we going to make another movie? Of course, we are,” she said.

"We’re in the process, but the writers strike, nobody is working during the strike. We’re all being supporters and whenever they get themselves together, we’ll get started.”

However, when Variety asked Sony boss Tom Rothman about the project, he said: "If I told you, I’d have to kill you.”

Marvel boss Kevin Feige revealed earlier this year that they're trying to discover where to take the story after the events of No Way Home.

"All I will say is that we have the story," he said during a wide-ranging interview with Entertainment Weekly.

"We have big ideas for that, and our writers are just putting pen to paper now."

It was an interesting development considering Holland foreshadowed that No Way Home was going to be his finale as Spider-Man.

He told Entertainment Weekly back in 2021: “We were all treating [No Way Home] as the end of a franchise, let’s say.

“I think if we were lucky enough to dive into these characters again, you’d be seeing a very different version.

Marvel

"It would no longer be the Homecoming trilogy.

"We would give it some time and try to build something different and tonally change the films.

But it seems like the future is bright for people who love the character.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is getting absolutely rave reviews ahead of its premiere today (June 1).

It's already sitting at 94 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes and the critical consensus states: "Just as visually dazzling and action-packed as its predecessor, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse thrills from start to cliffhanger conclusion."

Amy Pascal says they're already looking at completing the trilogy with Beyond the Spider-Verse, which is set to drop next year.

She revealed there will also be a Spider-Woman and live-action Miles Morales movies in the not too distant future.
