Big Brother 2023: When Is It, How Long Will It Run And Who Is Presenting?

Big Brother UK is coming back after five long years with fans eager to know when it will be released, who will present it and more.

Big Brother is finally set to return to the UK as ITV announced the upcoming series in Love Island's finale this week.

The beloved and long-missed reality show is coming back on on ITV2 and ITVX after a five-year hiatus. It is set to introduce a new cast 'from all walks of life' that will take up residence in the world's most famous reality TV home.

When will Big Brother UK air?

ITV announced the show would return in 2023 but has not stated what date the new series will premier.

When the show ran on Channel from 2000 to 2010, it would normally air in May.

When it moved onto Channel 5 from 2011 to 2018, Big Brother would hit screens in the first half of June. However, some series were aired in May or September to avoid overlapping with the show's spin-offs including Celebrity Big Brother.

How long will Big Brother UK run?

The Big Brother series have always had varying lengths with some running for about 60 days while others ran for over 90 days.

The seventh series in 2006 was the first series to run over 90 days as it had more than 20 housemates, while the final series in 2018 lasted 53 days, beginning on September 15 and ending on November 5.

ITV said in its recent announcement that contestants will be in the home under 24/7 surveillance for up to six weeks.

Who will present Big Brother UK?

The UK programme was originally presented by Davina McCall, known for her line: "Big Brother house, this is Davina. You are live on Channel 4, please do not swear."

When the show moved to Channel 5, season two winner Brian Dowling took over presenting. Emma Willis then took over for later seasons.

Dermot O'Leary, Russell Brand and celebrity contestant Rylan Clark and other celebrities presented the show's spin-offs such as Big Brother's Little Brother, Big Brother's Big Mouth and Big Brother's Bit On The Side.

Presenters for the upcoming series have not been announced but Irish singing duo Jedward, who appeared on the celebrity version of the show in 2011 and 2017, have offered themselves up for the role.

Rylan Clark left fans disappointed when he announced he had not been asked to host the show. He said in on Twitter:

"As a fan, like always, I’m made up it’s coming back. I know how hard you/we all fought to keep that name alive and I’m so glad it paid off in the end. The OG reality is back. It’s the news we wanted. Welcome back bro x #bbuk."
