Ant McPartlin Splits Open Forehead During Britain’s Got Talent Filming

The host decided to try and smash a coconut open with his head

Ant McPartlin was left with a cut to his forehead after head-butting a coconut on Britain’s Got Talent. Well that’s certainly an interesting story to tell his mates, isn’t it?

The Geordie is back on our screens with his best pal Declan Donnelly to front the latest series of Britain’s Got Talent and, as ever, the pair are throwing themselves right into it.

So much so, that poor Ant had to enlist the help of a medic after over-enthusiastically head-butting a piece of fruit.

During the audition rounds of the series, an act involving dozens of coconuts was set up on stage.

Ant then decided to have a go at cracking some of the coconuts - he started off by punching one, with rather painful results.

Shaking his hand from the pain, he told the camera: "Do not punch coconuts kids, it really hurts.

"I think I nearly broke my knuckle."

Not content with almost breaking a knuckle, Ant then said to someone off camera: "Why did you say forehead? Because I was bound to try..."

And gave his forehead a go at cracking the coconut. Again, it didn’t quite go to plan and his mate Dec was quick to point out: "You've cut your head on a coconut."

Ant appeared to lay the blame for the mishap at whoever was off-screen, asking them: "How irresponsible are you?"

Thankfully, the injury was pretty small.

And poor Ant’s humiliation wasn’t over yet - a medic then gave him the once over, before bandaging his head and telling him he’d need to change the dressing every day for three weeks.

Fortunately Ant took the p**s taking in good humour, laughingly pointing out: "This is very extreme for a little tap on the forehead."

But if you think he learnt his lesson, then you’re wrong. He was soon back on the stage attempting to smash more coconuts.

The ITV show is back on our screens after a year break due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Speaking about the break, Dec told the Sun: “The time off was bizarre, because it has been an annual event.

“We would come back from the New Year and the first thing we’d do was BGT auditions. Just to not have that in the diary felt a bit empty and a bit weird.”

However, Ant hinted that the break gave acts a chance to really polish themselves up.

He added: “Acts had two years to really work on their performance, so the talent was really strong.”

Alongside regular hosts Ant and Dec, judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams are all back.
