A brand new South Park video game is in development

THQ is helping bring the latest video game from the notorious Colorado town to life.

Austrian video game publisher THQ Nordic revealed dozens of upcoming projects at their latest digital showcase this month—but the teaser generating some of the most excitement was crammed into the last second.

Among the announcements were a new Alone in the Dark survival horror game—developed by Pieces Interactive and the writer of cult classic Amnesia—and Wreckreation—a new sandbox arcade racer from ex-developers of games like Burnout and Need for Speed.

But as the showcase drew to a close, a notification popped up on the screen that read: “As of today, THQ Nordic (HandyGames not included) has 43 games in development.

"Thereof 26 still unannounced AFTER this showcase, thank you for watching.”

The South Park Digital Studios logo then popped up, and character Randy Marsh was heard saying: “Hot, hot, hot, hot, hot [...] Urgh, oh. Oh, it’s coming.”

It was announced last year that Question Games started working on a South Park title, but the details have been kept tightly under wraps.

It’s unclear whether the two projects will be separate or a joint venture.

But we do know it’s been a while since the last South Park video game, and this new one is likely to be an entirely different experience.

The most recent games—published by Ubisoft—South Park: The Stick of Truth and South Park: The Fractured But Whole are both available on Nintendo Switch.
