Airline pilot explains where your poo goes when you flush it on a plane

Airline pilot explains where your poo goes when you flush it on a plane

Finally a pilot has revealed exactly where it all goes when we flush the plane toilet

One of those niggling questions that keeps our brain occupied in the middle of the night has been what happens to our poo when we flush the toilet mid flight whilst travelling.

Genuinely, it's been a mystery until now when a pilot on TikTok has finally revealed all.

Watch the video here:

If you've ever worried when using the loo on a plane that poor people underneath the aircraft are going to be hit with toilet waste from 30,000 feet, you can now set your mind at rest.

Pilot Garrett debunked that myth, saying on TikTok: "When you're on an aeroplane and you gotta go, where does it go?

"Did you know that whenever you flush the toilet on the aircraft, it actually doesn't dump out into the population down below?

Airline pilot Garrett has finally put our minds at rest.

"It goes through plumbing to the rear of the aircraft and the seal compartments where the ground crew at the destination will remove all that waste.

"On a 747 - on a long haul flight - toilets can be flushed over a thousand times, creating over 320 gallons of waste. That's a lot."

Whoa, we're stunned and it turns out we're not the only ones.

Other people have been left reeling from Garrett's revelations, but also that people would genuinely believe any airplane dumps its waste out mid-flight.

One TikTok user commented: "Wait ppl actually think it dumps out below?"

Another echoed them, as they wrote: "Other actually people that believe that it would get expelled from the aircraft to the population below? And if so, do these people vote?"

Thank god for ground crew who deal with all the toilet waste after a flight has landed.

A third added: "It’s still perplexes me that people think it just dumps out of the plane."

"Who even thought it drops below straight?" said another.

However, some users confessed they genuinely thought this could be true.

One honest user admitted: "Since I was a kid I used to think when over a sea the pilot flush it out. Omg."

Another added: "Thank you for clearing that up. Hopefully now we can let the matter drop."

One person summed up our thoughts perfectly with their comment: "Grounds crew deserves a raise."

Garrett isn't the only person who has been blowing minds and sharing truths on TikTok either.

One user admitted what it was like being on illegal substances and becoming the famous 'rave gurner' whilst another has opened up about his experience of going to hell in 2016 and living to tell the tale.
