People Are Finding Out If They Have 'Super Human Hearing' In Simple Test

Could you have super human hearing? Find out with this simple test.

If you could have any superpower it would probably be something cool like flying, telepathy, or teleportation – but do you have super hearing? Find out here:

We'd hazard a guess that superhuman hearing is pretty low down on your list of preferred powers.

But, if you can make it to the end of this test and can still hear some sound, you probably have superhuman hearing and, well, one superpower is better than none at all.

So, how good is you hearing?

If you listen to the TikTok video above, from content creator Bobby Moore, you'll very quickly find out.

Word to the wise, don't wear headphones while you watch this, the sounds are pretty piercing.

Moore starts by introducing the video, saying: "Normal people can't hear these sounds, let's watch to see if we're superhuman."

Safe to say that most people made it past level one.

What follows is a series of high pitch noises that range in levels from 'Level 1: Normal' to 'Level 4: Superhuman'. Moore got up to level three and we got just into level four before we stopped hearing anything.

People were quick to weigh in on where they got up to, with one user writing: "I got super human but I be over here standing right next to my dad and he be like 'get me coffee' me: 'huh what did you say?'"

Another said: "I have sensitive hearing so I could hear the whole thing."

Others weren't huge fans of the test, writing: "I'm no spring chicken... but I could hear it up until superhuman. Horrible."

While another was a little frustrated that Moore talked over the last level: "I heard superhuman for 2 seconds but you started talking."

While a fifth weighed in to say: "Fun fact this test is not accurate why? phone speakers some speakers just cut out at a certain frequency."

Level four proved a bit more difficult.

And the user had a point, with a study conducted in 2018 finding: "Differences in accuracy were revealed between the hearing test apps across frequencies and earphone styles."

The study, conducted by Jessica Barczik and Yula C Serpanos found that while there was a discrepancy between the accuracy of different online hearing tests: "Self-hearing test apps can be accurate in hearing threshold assessment and screening for mild or greater hearing loss (> 25 dB HL) when using appropriate transducers.

"To ensure accuracy, manufacturers should specify earphone model instructions to users of smartphone-based self-hearing test apps."

So, while the TikTok test claims to prove whether or not you have superhuman hearing, the results might actually vary depending on whether you're playing the test through a speaker or headphones.

And we recommend you don't use headphones for this one.
