But one bloke who should have a pretty good steer is 29-year-old Alex, who makes a very cushty living for himself by giving women exactly what they want.

The Spaniard - who is based in Sydney, Australia - says he can make up to £270 ($500 AUD) an hour working as a male escort.

He caters to all sorts of women, from single mums to businesswomen, from 45-year-olds to 18-year-olds. Based on his experiences, he reckons he has a good idea of what women are after; the bad news is, it's pretty much everything.

Speaking to the Daily Mail Australia, he said: "They want the ultimate fantasy a man can ever be and provide. The prince and the knight. The ultimate lover in and outside the bedroom.

"They also want to possibly impress others and have a great companion next to them making them feel a real woman. Giving them the true attention they deserve without ever being distracted by anything else."

Going into more detail about his day job, Alex revealed that women have paid him to take their virginity - one bloke even paid him £536 ($1000 AUD) to have sex with his wife.

He said: "I make a good living, I see a couple of clients at least once a week, generally for a few hours each time.

"I've been paid a couple of times for a full week experience. That goes for $15,000 (£8,053) for a full week with me - expenses excluded.

"I received a $1,000 (£536) tip once from a husband who wanted me to have sex with his wife. They both seemed very pleased with my performance and the experience.

"I get women from all walks of life. From single mums to businesswomen, age is usually between 35 and 45, but occasionally I get girls as young as 18 for their first time sexual experience."

As for Alex's favourite part of the job, well, there's no surprises there.

He said: "I love the sex, it's a pleasure and I get high seeing someone orgasm because of me. It's like a drug. Money and the lifestyle are also very addictive."
