Kevin Sinfield Has Completed His Epic 101-Mile Run In 24 Hours Challenge

The rugby legend has smashed his target, bringing in a huge sum for the Leeds Hospitals Charity and Motor Neurone Disease Association

Kevin Sinfield has ran 101 miles in 24 hours, smashing his fundraising target in the process.

The 41-year-old set off from Welford Road - where he is a coach for Leicester Tigers - yesterday (Monday 22 November) and ended his route at Headingley Rugby Stadium, the home of Leeds Rhinos - where he was met by former teammate Rob Burrow.

Sinfield played for the Rhinos for 18 years, where he played alongside Burrow, who was diagnosed with motor neurone disease in 2019.

Sinfield initially set out to raise £100,000 for the Leeds Hospitals Charity and Motor Neurone Disease Association, but as it stands, he has raised more than £612,000.

The journey, which was split into seven-kilometre segments, was originally planned to cover 100 miles, but actually measured 101 - with Sinfield once again proving he will always go the extra mile for Burrow.

"I feel really good," Sinfield said after completing the fifth leg near Nottingham. "We've really been buoyed by the support, it's been incredible, and the weather is great. The rugby gods are shining on us.

"There have been so many people out, from both codes, league and union. The team is in really high spirits but seeing people coming out like they have really picks everybody up."

Sinfield helped to raise more than £2.7million for the Motor Neurone Disease Association by running seven marathons in seven days last December.
