People are just realising what the filling inside a Cadbury's Creme Egg is

The filling inside a Cadbury's Creme Egg has remained a mystery for many, however, some are finally discovering what the gooey filling is.

Cadbury Creme Eggs first appeared in stores in 1971 and have been a favoured Easter treat since.

According to Cadbury, a staggering 500 million eggs are produced each year, with over a third going out for export.

It seems as though a Creme Egg is not just an Easter treat nowadays, with the popular treat heading into stores from 1 January.

We have been indulging in the egg for many years, but have you ever considered what the famous gooey centre is actually made of?

Many people have questioned what is in there, with some taking to social media platforms such as Twitter to speculate.

One person asked: "I have a huge problem weighing on my mind: What is the substance in the middle of a Creme Egg called? What is it? A goo?"

Others joked it could be frosting or even toothpaste - which certainly doesn't sound nice.

Another was critical of the egg: "Ate a Cadbury Creme Egg. Forgot how much I hated the slime on the inside. Reese’s Eggs are superior."

With all these questions, there wasn't many answers, as confused chocolate lovers tried to find out what is actually inside a Creme Egg.

Well, Cadbury say the gooey centre that makes up a Creme Egg is actually made of fondant.

According to their website, this comprises of sugar, milk, glucose syrup, cocoa butter, inverted sugar syrup, dried whey, vegetable fats and dried egg white.

TikTok user @abbeythefoodscientist shared to her followers what the gooey centre is made of in a video, which answered many people's questions.

In the short clip which has over 300k views, Abbey dissects a creme egg to reveal the gooey ingredient.

Content creator Abbey writes: "Opening A Cadbury Creme Egg!

"The inside is a mixture of sugar, corn syrup, and water or what’s called fondant."

One follower replied: "Okay I want to go make a massive bowl of it now I know what it is."

A second added: "Am I the only one who doesn’t like the filling?"

That second follower is not alone, as many rank Creme Egg in the lower part of their Cadbury's favourites.

TV presenter Rav Wilding recently tweeted a picture of a Creme Egg, a Fudge, Wispa and a Double Decker out of a Heroes box.

He asked his followers about the order of the chocolate, with many ranking Creme Egg in last place.

One person said: "Wispa, fudge, double decker, then throw the creme egg in the bin."

A second added: "Throw the wispa and creme egg in bin for a start."
