Cheeky lad tricks dad into buying puppy by impersonating mum with 'love' and 'hun' texts

Cheeky lad tricks dad into buying puppy by impersonating mum with 'love' and 'hun' texts

Nine-year-old Noah managed to impersonate his mum perfectly

While some kids rely on begging and pleading to get a new pet, one innovative youngster came up with an incredible plan to trick his dad into getting a new puppy for the family.

It's not that unusual to hear kids try a range of bargaining efforts to try and get their way, whether it's offering to clean their room or doing chores around the house.

Some wishes are easier to grant than others, and if you're a parent who's managed to get your kid to do all the dishes in exchange for an extra biscuit after dinner then you've got yourself a pretty sweet deal.

However, dad Kevyn Ley found himself well and truly played after his son got hold of his mum's phone and managed to convince Kevyn he was talking to his wife about getting a new pet.

It all began when Kevyn called his wife, Janine, on 6 November to tell her that he'd come across an eight-week-old puppy which was available to rehome immediately.

Lulu was just eight weeks old when Kevyn came across her.

Janine told her husband she wanted time to think about the proposition, but nine-year-old Noah had other ideas.

Janine explained: "At 10am on Sunday, Kev rang me from work and he was really coy, he said 'I've got a question to ask you'. He took me aback when he said we've been offered a puppy. I was like 'what? Are you kidding me? We only talked about it'. He said she was ready now if we wanted her.

"I said I needed to think about it and he texted me at 11am badgering me about it. I shouldn't have said anything to Noah but I said 'you won't believe what Daddy's just said, he's asked if we want another puppy'."

When Janine went to do some housework, Noah swiped her phone and decided to continue the conversation Janine and Kevyn were having on WhatsApp.

"I really wanted a dog and I went on Mum's phone and wrote 'hi hun', it's a phrase Mum uses," Noah explained.

He peppered the conversation with pet names to better convince his dad, before signing off: "Kev just get one, the kids are crying."

It wasn't until two hours later that Janine checked her phone and realised what her son had done - by which time, it was too late. Kevyn brought the puppy, named Lulu, home to see how she got on with their other dog Jet, and she hasn't left since.

The dad admitted he'd been entirely tricked by his son, saying: "He had me, I was convinced it was Janine. I was in work and the way he put it I thought 'it's her then', he proper had me... When I finally realised it was Noah, I probably swore. I just thought 'he's had me'.

Kevyn couldn't believe he'd been tricked by Noah.

I said to Janine 'I thought it was you, he's proper done me there."

The dad joked that he and Janine would have to come up with a code word to make sure they don't get tricked again in the future, but thankfully the family are 'excited' to have the new pup in their lives.
