A mum was left in tears after seeing the kind actions of local kids for her poorly child.

The mum, who lives in Atlanta in the US, wasn't able to partake in the Halloween celebrations this year, because her child was shielding due to having cancer.

In an attempt to keep her little one safe and to make sure no potential trick or treaters were left disappointed, she placed a sign she propped up outside her home, that read: "Sorry, no candy. Child with cancer. See you next year!"

Throughout the evening she and her husband saw trick and treaters approach their home and read the sign.

But the mum was left feeling emotional when she popped outside and saw that kids had been handing over their own sweets to give to her sick child.

Posting on Facebook, she wrote: "I can't stop crying. If anyone thought there was no hope in our kids and teens you're wrong.

"The SOLE purpose of us putting this sign in our yard today was so kids wouldn't run to our door and be disappointed (our neighbourhood usually gets 300-400 kids).

"I looked on our doorbell camera tonight and saw that kids had been stopping at the sign. [My husband] and I just went outside and found this.

"The picture doesn't do it justice, it's a LOT and the good stuff even.

"Seriously... If the parents of anyone who did this sees this, PLEASE tell them how much it means to us and our kiddos.

"On the best candy night of the year kids freely and generously shared with strangers and showed so much love and kindness. So amazing."

Ah, how nice is that? I'm getting a bit teary myself.

The post has proved to be a big hit with social media users, and has racked up more than 26,000 comments and almost 400,000 shares.

Commenting on the heart-warming post, one person wrote: "Made me cry. This shows that there is still good in this world. Bless these children's kindness and prayers for this child and family."

Another commented: "That is so amazing of the kids who shared their candy."

See, the world isn't all bad after all.
